Cultures in Northwest Franklin County

Over the last 200 years, the population of Hilliard Franklin County has changed not only in numbers, but also in the cultures that are represented.  This area has become much more culturally diverse.  In the late 1700s, most of the original settlers in this area could trace their family ancestry back to Europe. During the pioneer times there were more people from the Native American tribe of Haudenosaunee living in the area than other settlers.  Then in the 1800s, more European settlers moved to the area and some African American slaves who were freed by plantation owners, moved to this area.

In the late 1900s and 2000s, the population of Hilliard Franklin County has really become culturally diverse. There are now 46 different countries represented and 39 different languages spoken by the community members. There are now many different restaurants and stores that serve the needs of the different cultures. As more cultures move to this area, religious organizations are offering services in different languages or building worship facilities.
