Recreation & the Arts 2000-present
People in the area today spend their time relaxing by participating in activities such as going to the movies at theatres with up to 12 movie screens, bowling at places such as the Northwest Lanes (Ten Pin Alley), and playing on recreational sports leagues.
Many branches of the YMCA were built with a new branch located just south of Homestead Park at 4515 Cosgray Road. The YMCA Hilliard branch offers a state of the art fitness center, indoor pool, gymnasium with climbing wall, nursery, aqua and land aerobics, and many more family friendly programs.
The Franklin County Fair continues to be a great summer event in Hilliard each July. The first fair held in Hilliard was in 1918, so 2008 will be its 90th year here.
Retired persons enjoy being active but do not want to have to keep up with house chores. Some neighborhoods and living communities now include services such as central dining, housekeeping, and transportation to area events such as movies and concerts so they can remain active.
On July 20, 2007 the mayor of Hilliard, Don Schonhardt, announced that the West Pool Complex would be bigger and better than imagined. During the winter of 2006 a new slide was installed but the new project would include a new Lazy River Pool and a separate interactive water attraction and wading pool with spray pads.
