Services

Communities in Northwest Franklin County continued to grow in the early 2000s and will likely continue to see more growth in the future. Families living in the area enjoy many of the services provided by the cities and townships. Parks and recreation services are one example of the types of services that make this area enjoyable to live in. The Dublin Community Recreation Center opened in July 1996 and the second phase opened in 2000. The Dublin Community Recreation Center is the largest in Central Ohio. The city of Hilliard opened the redesigned West Pool in 2007 and will continue renovations and improvements in the next phase of the project.

In 2007 the post office located at the corner of Leap and Brown Commerce Roads is expanding and renovating to continue to meet the needs of the area. The cost to mail a letter went from 34 cents in 2001 to 41 cents in 2007. Many people now use e-mail to write letters in addition to using the Post Office.

As of 2007, the Hilliard Fire Department has three stations around the Hilliard area. Station 81, located at 4164 Avery Road Hilliard, Ohio 43026, is the main firehouse for Norwich Township. Administrative offices, including those for the chief, are located here. Norwich Township's ladder truck is located at this station, as well as most of the fire and EMS equipment. Station 82 is located in Brown Township. It holds meeting rooms on the second floor as well as houses a crew of fire fighters and paramedics. Station 82 located at 2491 Walker Rd. Hilliard, Ohio 43026. Station 83, located at 4283 Davidson Rd. Hilliard, Ohio 43026, is this station is the most recent to be built. An engine and medic are run from this station. It also houses a biohazard support vehicle that provides coverage for Central Ohio.

Over the past 20 years the Hilliard Division of Police has grown from 17 to 51 sworn officers and 18 civilian employees. The Division of Police is broken into three sub-divisions, each commanded by a Lieutenant.

Businesses

Northwest Franklin County continues in the 2000s to have a wide variety of businesses. The number of stores and their products has increased. There are 4 large supermarket chains where you can purchase food and other household items. Several specialty grocery stores have opened selling ethnic foods. The area near the intersection of Hilliard-Rome Rd and Trabue Rd has developed into a large shopping area featuring many large stores and restaurants. The Mill Run Shopping area has also expanded to the north of Cemetery Rd. In Dublin, the Perimeter Loop shopping area at Avery Rd and I-270 has many restaurants and grocery stores.
